Hi! I am an actor/director looking to devise a play about postnatal depression with a few fellow actors. We believe this is such an important issue to discuss, and hopefully by creating this piece we can open up this topic to the wider public. However, we have had no direct personal experience to draw upon to create this piece so far. Therefore, if you have suffered from, or know anyone suffering from post natal depression, it would be wonderful to hear your story. We are especially interested in ways of coping and how you responded to the support (or need for support) from your partner at the time. Please don't feel pressured to divulge anything you would rather keep hidden, this forum should stay a safe space for everyone.
Truthful moments are the most impactful and beautiful moments to capture in theatre, so learning about this first hand will be unbelievably valuable. This can also develop into a support thread if there is anyone who needs to talk to someone, you are all so brave.
Thank you so much!
