Aspergers quiz

Ok so this evening I have completed an online test on several websites to see if I have Aspergers. On all of them I scored highly likely for Aspergers . I'm not sure how good these quizzes are or what to do now? I feel I have a few traits like being awkward on social situations etc.

Was that the AQ test? I've completed that a few times and have heard that it's fairly well regarded.

Yes it was, it shows highly likely for Aspergers possible autism . I'm a 30 odd year old woman and have always felt not quite right iykwim. It's always been brushed off as anxiety in the past/ depression etc. Even with antidepressants they never helped.

Presumably you had a reason for doing the test, in that either you or someone else thinks you might be on the spectrum?

When I was assessed, I took my printouts of online tests with me, and the assessor told me about 2/3 of those who self-diagnosed with online tests met the criteria for a medical diagnosis, so I think they can be a useful indicator but not perfect. There are a good selection here: www.aspietests.org

The other one to have a look at are Samantha Craft's list of traits of female autism (there's a reason women are under diagnosed, we often slip under the radar and / or are very good at masking) everydayaspie.wordpress.com/2016/05/02/females-with-aspergers-syndrome-checklist-by-samantha-craft/ and Tania Marshall's Aspiengirl taniaannmarshall.wordpress.com/2013/06/19/i-am-aspiengirl-female-asperger-syndrome-and-superpowers/

If you feel like a diagnosis would benefit you, then you can go through your GP (there's a long wait) or look at going private. A number of women here have had good experiences with Action for Aspergers.

A lot of online support groups accept those who are self-diagnosed and they can be good for pre-diagnosis support and community. Try British Women With Aspergers on FB.
