Tramadol for depression?

I’m just wondering if anyone has used tramadol for depression or anxiety?
I’m fully aware it’s an addictive opiate based painkiller.
I’ve been taking it for severe pain for a number of weeks and I’ve had an unexpected side effect. My long term depression and anxiety has really lifted.
I’ve tried countless antidepressants over the years and nothing has had a huge impact.
To try and prove a point I came off it last week and, ignoring the increase in pain, my mood plummeted. I’m back on it now and I’m feeling better again. Not cured or even back to normal (whatever that is) but I can function.
Has anyone else found this? Or even use it as an off label use for depression?

Thanks for all the replies.
I’m also so torn, even more so now.
It absolutely does numb a lot of feelings but, and possibly because of this, i’m functioning to a better level. It has reduced pain a little too, which also helps.
My gp has renewed it for 2 more weeks then another review.
I’ve tried venlafaxine, I’ve tried many anti depressants. It’ll probably be in double figures.

I was on them for pain from stage 4 endometriosis and got 200 a month on repeat each month then changed GPs and they gave me one last box that took me off them which is fair enough, I felt rubbish coming off them really drained and lethargic so that time you felt rubbish was probably made worse by the withdrawal and won't always be like that, try not to rely on them as they will likely stop them soon most do
