Can social services help our ASD relative?

Hi - does anyone have any experience with getting support from social services for people with high functioning ASD? We have an older relative who lives and wants to stay at the other end of the country. Very independent and high functioning - has some limited part time work. However, he is a vulnerable person too....has accumulated debts and been conned in the past. We need to quickly sort out: access to social housing, getting an appointee to assist with money management amongst other things. I just wondered if anyone has any tips or advice on this journey from their own experience?

Yes this is within their remit, but social services don't tend to do anything quickly.......
