Hi 👋🏻 been taking fluoxetine 20MG for 9 days now and feel dreadful, please someone tell me things get better and I’ll start to feel a little more “normal” (whatever that feels like) I also take Lamotrigne twice daily for a mood disorder and pregablin twice daily for anxiety and panic disorder. My jaw is clenching, headache, low energy, paranoid, can’t focus, anxiety keeps peaking, not eating or drinking much. Poor judgement getting a bit paranoid that others are noticing that I’m acting a little “odd” feel a little messed up in my head whether Iran because it’s a different feeling to what I’m used to on my other meds I don’t know. I’ve read so many different stories about just riding it out and they really have a good effect and others says it takes months. I got prescribed these to pick up my mood. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 🙏🏻

I started fluoxetine in February this year and have honestly never felt so unwell in my life. I was so much worse. I took to my bed for 2 weeks. On day 14 it was like a cloud had lifted. I felt ok not normal but ok. After 4 weeks I was a new person. It has really changed my life. Stick at it, it really will get better. All the best and I hope you have the support you need!

The other option until you get over the side effects is to take it at night. I started fluoxetine years ago and I couldn’t cope with the side effects (I have health anxiety), so my psychiatrist switched me to taking it before bed so I could sleep through a lot of the effects. I’ve been on it 10 years now and still take it before bed.

Fluoxetine has been a life saver for me literally.

Take care and hope you feel better soon xxx

The first time I was put on fluoxetine I went a bit crazy, it was awful and I had to come off it after two weeks. All of my symptoms seemed worse and my mood swings were all over the place.

I am now taking it with citalopram, vortioxitine, buspirone and olanzapine and it's been a life saver. Finally seem to be on a regime thats helping manage my symptoms a bit better. Maybe give it another few days and then talk to your psychiatrist about changing timings or changing the medication.

Sometimes you have to go through the low until it works, but having had the awful side effects I really sympathise and I hope you get through it, if you can keep trying it got better in my experience.

My DH started this last month, the first 3 weeks or so he felt pretty awful, but week 4 felt so much better. Stick with it if you can. Or maybe see your GP to check your dosage/interactions with your other meds?
