Is anyone on this? How did you find it? I start 50g tomorrow after 2 weeks on 25. I need to get to 200mg. I haven’t felt any different apart from my dreams are really vivid

I am in the same boat OP. I believe it’s to help alleviate the real lows of the low. Just been diagnosed with Bipolar II and this is the start of the new meds but I’ve yet to feel any real difference - am up to 150mg for next 2 weeks . Sucicidal thoughts have lifted which is good news but still up in the night and sleep seems harder to achieve.

Hi Guys,
I've been on an increasing dose of Lamatrogine for the past several weeks. I thought that I was feeling a little bit better on the 150mg dose but have now increased to 175mg and am sure that things are finally looking up for the first time in two years. I have been slowly reducing Venlefaxine at the same time(from 225mg to currently 75mg). I'm due to increase the Lamatrogine to 200mg this week. I'm still taking 100mg Quetiapine at night but we plan to reduce that also.

I hope that the increasing dose of Lamatrogine works as well for you as it seems to have done for me. It can be frustrating to have to wait for the dose to be increased so slowly but I'm very respectful of the potential side effects of rushing it.
Take care xx

I take it for a different reason (seizure preventative) so can't comment on the MH aspects, but for me the side effects have been insomnia and hugely increased appetite.

For me, it's still beneficial as the alternative to not taking it is worse, but I did find the side effects, especially the insomnia, took a few weeks to get used after I titrated up over about 100mg.

My GP couldn't prescribe temporary sleeping tablets such as zoplicone as I have nocturnal seizures, but said they would have done otherwise so this may be worth looking into if the insomnia is a problem.

I now take 200mg morning and evening and still want to eat everything in sight, but to me it shows at least they are having an effect, unlike other similar meds, so this may be positive for you?

Interestingly (I have just thought this while typing!) have a lot of stress going on in my life atm but have been calmer and less sad than I would expect, so maybe they do also have an effect on my MH.

I hope you get some benefit from them.
