Hi
I know this might sound mad but I was wondering what to do for the best.
For the past 4-5 months, life has been very stressful and I’ve been having physical symptoms such as: some pretty nasty dreams, palpitations, chest pain, knot in the stomach, very irritable, trouble concentrating etc. I feel quite low and my confidence is not good at the minute.
It all began back in April when I discovered my partner of 3 years had cheated on me. We have worked through it and are still a couple but there’s still work to be done. Then my best, and very close, friend (for over 25 years), moved out of the area. 45 minutes down the road, which is not far I know, but she’s had a lot of upheaval in her own life (divorce) and has her own stuff going on so she’s not really been around much.
Then, in June, my 37 year old sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. The diagnosis has, as you can imagine, hit everyone in the family like a juggernaut.
I work long hours within the education sector. During the summer, I felt like I was coping ok but since going back to work, I feel like I am really struggling to cope with everything. Work has been very stressful since work began 3 weeks ago and I am finding it all very hard.
Am I just being ridiculous and I need to just get my s**t together and get on with it or should I visit the doctor?
Any thoughts/advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks

You are not being ridiculous and you definitely should visit your doctor. You sound like you have high levels of anxiety and maybe depression.
