Mismatched life

Not sure if this is the right place to post about personal development but it impacts my mental health so I guess it is.

I've been doing some self development work around values, what makes me, me, identity that sort of thing. There is an exercise where in deciding if your 'life' fits your values and goals you consider what your go to activity is when you feel overwhelmed. Presumably you then try to spend more time doing this. My go to activities are cleaning or baking. It is amazing how much I need to clean the kitchen if I have something overwhelming to do!

On one level I am wondering how I can make more of these 'practical' skills I find therapeutic without becoming a cleaner (I hate cleaning) or baker (the early starts would floor me). On the other my house would be sparkling and I could give bake off some competition or be three times my current size!

What are your go to 'therapies' and how would your life look if you really did that to align your life?

Oh my days... I am in the process of doing this myself. I'm taking some time out from work to be a SAHM but...

I sing and play the piano.
It's my plan to start teaching singing from home.
My grandfather passed recently and left me some money so I bought a piano.
I'm entering into a competition next year to motivate me to get my voice back in shape.
Next step is to get some advertising done and get some pupils.

I'm tired of looking for jobs and not finding anything that suits me. Make your own doorway I say!

Good luck OP! Hope you find your groove!

Great name Plinkplink. Your doorway sounds exciting and what a lovely legacy from an inheritance. I didn't spend nearly enough time as a child playing my piano. Not sure I could have been professional but I always wanted to be accomplished. I hope the singing works out.
