Am I better?

Suffered from mild depression all of my life but recently been quite severe and decided to go on medication. I have been taking the medication for about 3 weeks and been in sick leave from work during this time. I do feel better in myself, apart from the occasional day, but now do I know I am fully better and ready to go back to work?

Don't want to go back too soon and have to go off again?
Any advice?
Thanks

I’m not an expert/medically trained, but my understanding is that most medications take 4-6 weeks to settle, that’s not to say you can’t start to feel better sooner. If you’re still having the odd wobbly day, then in order to feel comfortable returning to work, are you able to discuss with your manager so they are aware of the situation? See what support they can offer you? If you had another wobbly day, would you need to phone in sick? Because coming back to work and then going off again can be frustrating both for your business and for you too. Maybe have a chat with your GP, if you can get an appointment?

Hello OP. Glad you're feeling better in yourself. That's a very positive sign. Managing depression is complex and sometimes lifelong. Perhaps just take a little longer before going back to work. You'll know when the time is right. Good luck!
