That's an overdose amount. Why did you take that much?

You need to call 111 and seek medical advice.

kateshair · 05/09/2018 19:13

Stupidly ! A friend advised it saying it helped her.... I’ve read in a panic just that it’s prescribed for acute anxiety... It worked I feel no anxiety but of course am concerned re potentially overdose !

Call 111.
Don’t wait for medical advice on here.

Bombardier25966 · 05/09/2018 19:17

You have taken five times the recommended dose. Did you not read the packet? You need to call 111 now.

sunshinejourney · 05/09/2018 19:18

Citirizine is an anti histamine?!

I had a quick google and sometimes antihistamines are given for a short while for anxiety, but not usually citirizine.

I would call for medical advice urgently if you've taken a new drug and are unsure about if the dosage was safe.

FissionChips · 05/09/2018 19:18

Is this your medication it did your friend give it to you?

Littlechocola · 05/09/2018 19:36

@kateshair are you ok?

kateshair · 05/09/2018 19:39

Yes am ok...have taken this before

Bombardier25966 · 05/09/2018 19:44

It's good that you made the call. Are there any children in the house? If so you should ask another adult to look after them until you're able to.

Please make an appointment with your GP or mental health specialist as soon as possible.

kateshair · 05/09/2018 19:45

I take 40mg daily so I imagine you're fine. Been on 40mg per day for about 20 years now

Bombardier25966 · 05/09/2018 19:51

Benadryl is a brand name. The maximum daily dose is 10mg.

You need to take this more seriously. Cetirizine isn't going to kill you, but being so irresponsible with other drugs could well do. Don't ever take medication without reading the instructions, even if it's bought over the counter or off the shelf.

colditz · 05/09/2018 19:53

I imagine that the level of anxiety that caused you to overdose on the advice of a friend must mean that your life is pretty difficult right now?

I want you to make an appointment to see your doctor. He or she can prescribe something to you that will work better than overdosing on antihistimines.

Bombardier25966 · 05/09/2018 19:55

@Ollivander84 That would be an off license prescription.

Ollivander84 · 05/09/2018 19:58

It's not technically prescribed as it's cheaper for me to buy online but consultant suggested it years ago
Plus buying online saves the arguments with the chemist!

kateshair · 05/09/2018 20:00

Yes lots of things happening right now that have lead me to be so irresponsible! Never done anything like this before and I will never again .... so what is this difference between bendryl and certrazine was just brand and generic ?
