Undiagnosed ADHD?

All the university threads lately made me think back over my life a lot and I am pretty sure I have ADHD. I talked to my husband about it and he said he thinks I just wasn't "taught to focus". Is focus even something you can teach?

I don't see much point in looking for a diagnosis or anything and I certainly have no interest in taking stimulant drugs, but I do wonder if there's any behavioural or similar type approaches to improve things like focus, executive functioning etc in day to day life? Does anyone have experience with that sort of thing.

I am sad about and kind of would like to change from being a perennial underachiever and disappointing everyone who gets to know me.

If you truly had ADHD then you would do anything you could to help with the sheer frustration of not being able to concentrate on the most basic of things, including taking stimulant drugs.

ADHD is so much more than struggling to focus.

If you genuinely believe that you have it, get properly diagnosed and get treatment because only then will you be able to reach your full potential.

I was diagnosed with ADHD three years ago as well as borderline personality disorder
I never underachieved I just only achieved in what interested me
I also focus pretty well but only on what interests me
As PP says there is a lot more too it
I often put myself at risk and any form of attention Good or bad is what I seek

Well I used to be addicted to heroin so I'd really rather not take addictive drugs.

Another thing that many people who are diagnosed with ADHD have in common - addiction issues.
