Not sleeping with anxiety, tips?

Just that really, I'm currently struggling with a bout of bad anxiety brought on by work stress.

The past few nights I have not been sleeping. It takes me hours to drift off as my mind is racing and I'm knackered!

Does anyone have any tips on shutting my brain up and getting some sleep?

I listen to radio 4 podcasts. Gardeners question time is almost guaranteed to induce sleep as it's a very calm format, and I'm not the slightest bit interested in gardening!
Something calm that you're not terribly interested in, or not very exciting works really well.
Or light hearted comedy. John finnemores souvenir is good. Or the unbelievable truth.
Anyway. That's what I do.

I downloaded the Digipill app on my phone, there is a sleep deeply pill that plays for about 30 minutes. I use that

I’m the same at the minute but I fall asleep as I’m shattered but wake between 1 and 3. I have an adrenaline surge which makes me wide awake which happens every time I’m in the cusp of sleep. I really feel your pain. It’s exhausting. I’ve tried listening to different things, meditation and just getting up in the hope I’ll exhaust myself but it just doesn’t happen.

I’m going to try nytol tomorrow.

I was the same as you. I do have GAD but the more stress I have the worse it is. Recently it has become so much better and I believe it is due to me giving up coffee and other caffeine drinks. I replaced coffee with chicory (Camp coffee or Prewett's). Chicory is good for anxiety and avoiding caffeine anyway is also good for anxiety. I am definitely sleeping better (I wear a Fitbit to track sleep so I have actual evidence!)
