I have been in it for 13 years. I only take 2.5mg & also Sertraline 75mg.
It has affected my cholesterol levels so I need to come off it. I have major depression & have suffered with Anorexia. I have had years of psychotherapy & I see a psychiatrist & i’m In a good place to try & come off it. I will be on the Sertraline indefinitely.
Has anyone else withdrawn from Olanzapine? I am taking 1/2 a tablet for s month then I will take 1/4 for a month.

@Diamond25 I know this is an old post but can I ask how you got on with your olanzapine withdrawal? I'm also on 2.5mg along with citalopram for major depression and panic disorder but my psychiatrist has suggested I could try to come off it. I was planning on going down to three quarters of a 2.5mg pill for 3 weeks, then half for 3 weeks then a quarter for a couple of weeks. Any advice?? Hope you are doing well.

Hi I know I'm not the OP but I was on 5mg olanzapine and sertraline for a while around 2018 and I came off it fairly easily -- prior to that, I was on quetiapine as the antipsychotic and that was really rough on the withdrawal but I remember with the olanzapine just cutting down every other day so like this:

Monday 5mg olanzapine
Tues 2.5mg
Wed 5mg
Thurs 2.5mg
Fri 5mg
Sat 2.5mg
Sun 2.5mg
Mon 2.5mg

So I alternated the old dosage and new dosage for a week then moved to the new dosage, let my brain get used to that, then halved that in the exact same way with alternating days.

I had zero side effects but your mileage may vary.
Good luck!

Thank you so much for posting, that's really helpful and reassuring that you managed to withdraw from it successfully. Wishing you all the best.
