My dh started being sick on Saturday night, we thought there was a chance it was dodgy sausages but I bleached everything anyway and have been washing hands religiously and haven't let him prepare any food for me or ds (he is usually the cook). However this morning ds has woke up throwing up (he's 3) so it's definitely a bug. As title suggests I have emetophobia and this is going to give me a mental break down.

My ds had the bug in March and neither dh nor I managed to catch it due to scrupulous hygiene I believe but no matter how hard you try 3 year olds cannot wash their hands great and always put their fingers in their mouths so I believe that's why my ds has caught this. What are my hopes of not catching it? Ds threw up on my arm this morning though he was facing away from me cuddling in our bed. I'm already having a stressful time at work right now and I cannot take any time off plus my ds had an reflex anoxic seizure on Sunday so my nerves are hanging on by a fucking thread.

This probably sounds stupid but I'm sitting here crying when I need to be getting ready for work and I'm just waiting for this bug to strike me.

In my experience not everyone will necessarily catch it because you might be immune. You have done all you can. Have you got the dettol aerosol? Literally spray everything with that. When any of mine are sick I wash everything I can and spray the rest with the dettol. Line a sick bucket with a plastic bag so it can go straight in bin no need to keep washing it out, touching sick!

My kids have had dozens of sickness bugs over the past decade plus I work in a school. I've only had one bug in that time and that didn't seem to have come from anyone at home. Also, they have never passed it to another family member. Honestly, there is a very good chance you'll escape it.

Thank you both for replying honestly. I've bleached whole bathroom, thrown out toothbrushes, bleached door handles and light switches. I believe my ds caught it on Sunday morning when he went for a wee at 6am before I got up to bleach after my husband had spent all Saturday night being sick in the bathroom, because he has started being sick exactly 48 hours after that. I just really cannot afford for me to catch it and I feel like a ticking time bomb and it's going to push me over the edge. I'm barely eating the last 3 days because if I catch it I'd rather not have much in my stomach to bring up.

I do feel for you as I dread the sick too, but be strong and get through it, I bet your little one is feeling better by tomorrow they get over it fast usually, and then you can relax.

bobstermum thank you, my husband says my ds is in great form and sucking ice lollies and hasn't been sick again since I left for work this morning and no temp so far so he seems to be taking it like a champ, my dh was far worse with it sat/sun fever n everything. I just wish I could know for sure if I was going to get it, I'm gonna be on edge for a week probably til I think I'm safe.
