Driving lessons and driving test

Driving makes me a little bit anxious but when I'd drive with a family member I'd feel fine. It's learning to drive with an instructor that just makes me feel horribly tense the whole time - that feeling of being watched for a whole hour, being in a confined space alone with them and them grading you on your progress. I get flustered, sweaty and can't wait to get out of the car. I've had 2 different instructors now and both have been fairly pleasant people but it doesn't seem to help. I can't imagine what I'll be like for the test but I'm imagining I'll need beta blockers or something, if this is how I feel just during lessons.

How did you get through learning to drive and the test itself? Any tips? I know I need to keep pushing myself but I absolutely dread lessons and have such a sinking feeling as I'm walking to the instructor's car Sad

What age are you? If you're 17, do you really need to learn to drive yet? It's a stressful enough age with exams or starting a job or whatever else, maybe you are putting too much pressure on yourself?

@brizzledrizzle, much older than 17! I do need to learn to drive and I've attempted to do it a times however I do find the process makes me quite anxious.

Can you book an intensive residential course?
