Propanolol

Have had anxiety for a while. Was also admitted to hospital last year for chest pains. Despite having found a murmur and electrical irregularity in my heart, after a scan I was told my heart was strong.
I did have high blood pressure and have increased exercise and tried to do relaxation to ease it. It did work and the gp gave me the all clear.
Anyway, a couple of months ago my daughter became very poorly. The gp prescribed me propanolol as I was struggling with the adrenaline rushes of seeing my daughter deteriorate so regularly.
I didn’t take them as a course and continued to try relaxation. (Although one occasion I had one tablet. Then stopped as I was worried as don’t like taking medication)

Recently I’ve struggled again with coping with dd being poorly, in addition to the added stress of having ds home from uni.
I reached for the box of propanolol. It says take twice a day. I had one tablet yesterday morning. It spaced me. But I definitely felt more chilled. I’m not sure if psychosomatic though. I didn’t have a second dose last night but took another tablet this morning.

My question is..I’ve had palpitations weirdly last night in bed. And again this evening. I’m wondering why? I thought it lowered blood pressure so am wondering if things are ok? I do worry about my health.

Could it be because I’m more conscious of my heart while on these tablets?!

When you say palpitations do you mean a racing heart? Could it be because the tablet you took in the morning has worn off?

I take propanolol 40mg a day for anxiety and irregular heartbeat but I take half with breakfast and half with dinner. That seems to keep me on an even keel.

I have found them very helpful and would keep going with them Thanks
