Anxiety & pregabalin

I've suffered with anxiety since my teens (I'm now in my 40s) and been on citalopram for most of those years. This had helped a lot in the past but I've found over the last few years this had just not been cutting it. I'm now on the maximum dose (40mg) but my anxiety is still sky high. Dr has also given me Propranolol which doesn't really seem to make much difference but at my last appointment mentioned pregabalin. I said I'd think about it at the time as I was reluctant to keep taking more & more tablets (especially as I now believe I'm am completely dependent on the citalopram) but, after a couple of really rough days I think I really do need a bit of extra help.

So has anyone on here taken pregabalin for anxiety with good results? What sort of side effects can I expect & how long will they take to work?

I have them for migraine and DB for nerve pain.

Are you starting on a longish dose? Try and ask for the 25mg pills so you can build up when you need it.

I also take propanalol but that didn't help until I was at 80mg.

It's hard to describe but the 'steady' feeling you get is helpful once you get a routine going.
Neither of us experienced side effects.

Try for a month or two, if they help enough it may reduce your other meds.

I tried pregabalin for anxiety and it really wasn't good for me. I found it made me very dizzy on and off and I stopped sleeping altogether which really didn't help my anxiety. I stopped after 3 days because the side effects were so bad.

But I haven't found a med that actually helps other than diazepam when I'm really panicky.
