Bipolar & Pregnancy

I recently found out I am preggers and immediately stopped taking the lithium for my bipolar, however obviously my mood has been affected and my psychiatrist appointment isn't for another 2 weeks.

Any advice on how to keep mood levels stable until my psych appointment and does anyone know what they may offer me in replacement to the lithium?

Would love to hear your experiences and thoughts ❣️

Try fatty acids such as omega 3, found in coldwater fish like salmon, walnuts and flaxseeds
Eat fresh fruits, dark leafy green veges, lean meats, whole grain products and eggs.
It is important to stay away from caffiene and alcohol (obviously you will do this anyway as you are pregnant)

Meditation can also help stablise the mood, or try Tai Chi, the music is 60bpm which mimics the resting heart rate and relaxes. It also has light but fluid motions which will relax you.

Try Interpersonal and Social Rhythm therapy
Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy (IPSRT) is founded upon the belief that disruptions of our circadian rhythms and sleep deprivation may provoke or exacerbate the symptoms commonly associated with bipolar disorder

The social rhythm metric on page 21 might be of assistance to you. It encourages you to continue to make social encounters and check in with people as well as to do activities throughout the day in a set time.

Hopefully some of this helps. Good luck and congrats
