I was signed off last week with anxiety. Now on half term. I'm also pregnant.
Over the last week or so the desire to self harm has been overwhelming. I'm constantly feeling anxious and worrying about returning to work even though it's a job I love. I don't feel myself.
Is this a pregnancy thing? How is antenatal depression different to normal depression?

I’m really sorry you haven’t had a reply sooner. How are you feeling now? Have you spoken to your midwife? Flowers

Thank you for replying. I went to the gp yesterday as I'd been feeling on the edge of something and my thoughts were getting worse. It helped a lot actually and now I'm trying just to be kind to myself and take each day as it comes xx

That’s really good to hear Smile
With thinking about being kind to yourself, you might find this helpful:

That’s great that you are aware and able to recognise this. My thoughts:

Think of the day in units of time (have you seen About a Boy?) - all you have to do is get through the current block. I like half hour blocks as they’re very attainable.

Also, each day, be kind to yourself in small ways. Doesn’t have to be grand or expensive or anything that anyone else would understand. I love toast with a particular topping so, when I need to look after myself, that is my go-to remedy.
