I’ve recently started on 50mg of sertraline. I’m not noticing any effects, positive or negative, yet.

What’s the rules about drinking alcohol when on it?

Even after a few months on it I don’t recall feeling any different, but the circumstances surrounding my depression improved so I couldn’t say whether the pills helped or not. Was on it for 9-12 months then weaned myself off for another 3 months. Alcohol didn’t really affect me either way but I was just having 1-2 drinks at most. Wouldn’t recommend even a glass of wine on fluoexitine tho, bad mixture

Thank you. I’m having a glass of wine just now.

I’ve been on sertraline for years at 100mg and I just drink normally.

I’d take it easy though if you are just starting on them as you don’t know how it will affect you and alcohol is a depressant, so you may feel worse for it.

I think they warn you that it can have an effect, so exercise caution. I’m fine drinking on it though.
