Exam anxiety

Hi there
My DS is very close to sitting his Alevel exams and is revising hard. But I feel his anxiety about failing is making him unwell . He was unable to revise today as couldn't focus. Then gets more anxious because he didn't revise. He does already suffer from general anxiety so I'm not surprised this is happening as he has very high expectations for his future( nothing to do with us, least pushy parents going!)
I've been giving him mega mag calmeze daily but doesn't seem to touch him.
Should I ask GP for something to keep him calm over next 3 weeks ? Hate the idea of drugging him. But to fail exam due to anxiety will be tragic.

What other help had he had for his anxiety?

OK, I've just Googled it. Stop giving him the calmeze. It contains taurine (stimulant also found in Red Bull) and will make his symptoms worse.

Ok seems a bit odd that calmeze would make you more anxious but worth taking out if diet.
He's had Cbt for body dysmorphia and talk therapy but has done really well with that.

I am also revising for exams and I can sympathise with your son. Today I managed 2 hours and I can’t take anything in, I am sat crying blaming myself for not working harder when i’m not remembering anything and should be doing more. I’m not taking any medication as I am afraid it will make me too tired to study. Absolute vicious circle. My parents have said have the afternoon off. It seems ridiculous to me. I feel like I am having a panic attack over this.

I'm so sorry to hear that . It must be so common . We have forced him to go out and play a game of squash !
It really helped to exercise and burn off some of that anxiety. He slept well then said I'm not going to let my anxiety get in the way of revision. He's managing to not project to the future and he said he's going to save his worry for the summer holidays .
Exercise eat well cut the coffee ( he was putting 2 spoons in cup !!!) breathe. You are gonna smash it.

It is a massive problem because of the pressure people place on exams these days. I took the afternoon off - I will have to work extra hard this week but my mind was completely fried today.
