I haven’t taken them myself but my best friend does and she felt horrific for about 2-3 weeks when she started. She felt nauseas, dizzy, exhausted and more anxious than ever. After those weeks passed she suddenly started to feel great though

Different people react differently to different medications.

I started on Sertraline, and they made me very poorly - they kicked off my IBS really badly. I was going multiple times a day, getting up about four times a night with awful pains. I had been told that tummy upsets were a common side effect, and that if I stuck with them, it would improve. It got no better after six weeks, so I stopped taking them - it took several months for my guts to settle completely.

I'm now taking Citalopram - so far some mild nausea, some loss of appetite, and some sleep issues - but I'm less than two weeks in, so I'm sticking with it - they're liveable with, and I'm hoping the side effects will pass.

keegantillie - what symptoms are you getting?

In the same boat- started yesterday, have just had to come home from work I feel so sick. Diarrhoea this morning too. Really hope it doesn't take 3 weeks to improve!

For me the side effects only lasted about a week before settling down.

I was in the less usual position of transitioning onto sertraline from mirtazapine. In terms of my bowel movements I went from one extreme to the other. I struggled to get to sleep and this was helped a little by taking it in the morning rather than at night (the M you have to take at night as it can knock you out)

How has today been?
