Withdrawal symptoms from antidepressants

Hi, I’m feeling really bad and it’s getting worse everyday. I stopped taking antidepressants about 2 months ago and was fine for about 4-6 weeks but now I feel very low, highly agitated and very anxious. I saw a doctor last week to ask if it could be withdrawal and they said maybe. I really don’t want to take medication anymore. I’d been on a really low dose and had been fine. Now I’ve started to feel like I don’t want to be here anymore.
Has anyone else experienced a difficult withdrawal from antidepressants (sertraline)

Hi OP I am thinking about stopping my ad which is citalopram, I tried to stop last year but failed horribly and am so scared of this happening again but I really want to stop.

My withdrawal symptoms last year came on within days not weeks but I don't know if sertraline is different have you looked at the MIND website? I'm trying to plan my withdrawal by increasing my exercise and eating well also stopping alcohol for now, but I will do it very gradually with my GP. Hopefully someone who has successfully withdrawn might be akin to help.

FYI my withdrawal symptoms were brain zaps, uncontrolled crying, anger and insomnia.
Did you have any counselling when you started your ad initially? Saying you don't want to be here is a worry but I know what you mean, it may be withdrawal but it could be your original illness starting again. Is it worth seeing your GP again?

Definitely see your GP urgently if you are feeling so down, and consider going back on the medication temporarily to stabilise your mood before tailing off more gradually. You cannot stop taking this type of drug suddenly without severe side effects - you need to tail them off gradually, under the care of your GP, over several weeks/months. Hugs

I did. I was on sertraline for a year and tried to come off it a couple of months ago. I went from 50 to 25 for a month then stopped taking them within ten days I felt awful. I went back to the doctors and she put me back 9n them.
I would like to not be on them but I don't know if it was withdrawal or my depression coming back either way I couldn't handle feeling like that.
