Anger management therapy?

I’m very angry - having horrible outbursts where I shout (and I mean really shout/scream) at the DCs, or I snatch a toy that’s annoying me and throw it across the room.

It’s worse sometimes than others (there’s definitely a hormonal link) but I can’t take any hormonal drugs at the moment for medical reasons.

Has anybody had anger management therapy? I feel like the outbursts are so sudden and uncontrolled that I’m not sure I can implement any calming techniques. At the moment I avoid the situations I know wind me up but that’s not always possible.

Have you been to your GP? They would be able to direct you to some help.

Are you on any medication? Have you had any recent blood tests done?
Asking in case of side effects/possible thyroid issues.

I find sometimes that extreme anger is often really extreme sadness, but that is just my experience.

I am on some medication yes, but been on it for years and this is a recent thing - the last 6 months.

And yes I am quite fundamentally unhappy which maybe is coming out in anger? I don’t know. I’ve seen my GP about depression and am on anti depressants (for about five years now).

I hadn’t thought of thyroid issues, I’ll ask for those to be checked.

Thank you to those who commented, saw my GP today, been referred for thyroid tests and for counselling, so hoping things improve.
