Starting Fluoxetine

Hi, just wondered whether anyone else suffered horrid side effects when first starting Prozac? Would like some positive stories to encourage me to hang on in there! I'm taking them for anxiety related to some health issues I'm experiencing.

I'm on Day 4 and feel ghastly- headache, nausea, very very low. I feel much lower than I did before! I am also taking diazepam at night to help me sleep and feel like a wreck, which is not helping the acute anxiety about my health issues.

How quickly did you start to feel some relief and should I stick with it?

I took Prozac in my 20's (20 yrs ago now!) but don't remember feeling like this.

Hi I’m on day 17 of taking Fluoxetine for anxiety. Side effects in first week were insomnia, feeling really agitated and anxious, palpitations, drowsy spells, weird acid reflux where I felt hungry all the time but couldn’t eat.

Last week I started to feel some relief in the evenings and this is now slowly moving forward so I now feel much calmer by mid afternoon.

How are you doing now?

Hi i just came on here to essentially post the same. I stopped taking pills after a week. Would have persevered if i hadnt had a really bad experience with citalopram a few yeaes back. Im still shattered 4 days after last time i took fluoxetine. Wondering how much longer i will feel so totallt knackered. The anxiety and agitation is gone thankfully.
How are you doing? Anyone with tips on how to start feeling better?

Thanks for your responses. I'm now on day 17. I felt my anxiety settle in the second week but have felt very up and down over the last 5 days or so. Very tearful and low today- I was hoping my mood would be improved by now but perhaps I'm not being patient enough?
