Antipsychotics and tiredness

I am in a cocktail of medications but I suspect that Lurasidone causes my tiredness. Everyday following happens:

~6 I get up by myself and feel refreshened
~10-11 am I start to feel increasingly tired and fall asleep
~12-13 I woke up and feel really tired and out of it
~15-16 I start to feel normal agai
~21 I go to bed

This is my usual pattern. If I am on the go in the morning I won’t fall asleep but the minute I get home I feel sleepy. I had bloods done and they are normal. I m suspecting that lurasidone causes this but I have just found a dose that keeps me otherwise stable. I am wondering if there is something that would keep me awake. Coffee doesn’t work.

How long have you been on the medication? I don't have experience of lurasidone, but with other anti-psychotics the sleepy effect has gradually got better with time, although never gone completely.

I take them and struggle to get up earlier than 9 am. I am tired during the day. If I need to get up early I take half so I have some in my system and don’t withdraw. They do have a profound effect but they improve my life so I take them.

In terms of antipsychotics lurasidone is a fairly new drug

I have been on lurasidone over an year. The dose was increased last Xmas. I have had naps all the time but just lately noticed how regularly things happen. When I wake up at six on the morning I feel fresh and active but around then ten I start to get heavy feeling in my head and just want to sleep.

I take quetiapine, I might ask my psychiatrist to prescribe this for me because it seems to allow you to get up early, mind you knowing my luck it wouldn’t work for me!

Quetapine made me feel tired all the time. Lurasidone is fine apart from making me sleepy in the middle of the day.

Well I’m going to discuss it at my next appointment. I’m trying to get another job after being unwell for a few months and may need to get up early!

Quetiapine works well for me (200mg). I take before bedtime and sleep really well. Wake up fine with no issues at 6am for work. Did take some months for me to get used to though.

Not sure how easy it is to get lurasidone prescribed. I had to convince psychiatrist that I can't take anything else. It could be easier now because it is more than a year ago I started it.
