Hi. I have had to go on AD's due to worsening panic attacks. I started on 25mg Sertraline two nights ago and I feel amazing. Maybe it's the placebo effect but it's like my body can't be bothered to have a panic attack. Side effects have been minimal so far.

I was wondering if anyone has stayed on 25mg as a long term dose. If it continues to work, I would rather stay on the lowest dose possible. I was prescribed 50mg and have to go for review in a month.

I have recently started taking sertraline for the second time due to anxiety and low mood and I'm considering doing the same thing as you.

Is your gp understanding about it all? First time around I was very honest with my gp and told her that I was unsure about taking the full 50mg tablet, she recommended that I take the full dose but was happy for me to half the tablet if that was what I preferred.

I ended up taking the 50mg in the end and it was fine, although I did feel rather spaced out most of the time, I always wonder if some people are more sensitive to medication than others?

25mg is prescribed for children but the minimum adult dose seems to be 50mg.

If it's working for you then I'd go with it but with an open mind to increase to 50mg if you feel the need to. If you feel comfortable then I'd definitely recommend being open with your gp about what you're thinking (although this is sometimes tough if you have a gp that isn't very understanding!)
