Hormonal Depression

Does anyone else suffer from intermittant depression that they reckon is caused by hormones. I can't sem to find out anything much on the internet.
I suffered dreadful depression whilst pregnant and when my periods started again last year I started to become depressed again but only now and then (about 11 days in any month with no pattern)Evening Primrose oil sorted out the PMT but after a particularly bad few days I went to the Doctor and was prescribed Anti depressents which I then didn't take because I felt better. Two months on I had another few AWFUL days and started the packet only to then have an unusually long menstrual cycle and then a really short one which kind of confirmed to me that my depression is hormone related.
I don't like to take AD's because I'm breast feeding. I wonder if the breast feeing is adding to the unstable hormone situation. Anyway, can't seem to find any wanswers so hoping someone has some experience.

I have suffered from panic attacks and anxiety for a long time and I did find they were worse whilst I was pregnant and breastfeeding. It may have been coincedence but within 2 months of stopping breastfeeding (I did it for 7 1/2 months) I felt a lot better. Have you asked your gp for a blood test to check your hormone levels?

Don't know if it helps but I get extremely down when I have my periods. This morning I was cring on DP's shoulder.I also get paranoid and quite easily aggeravated.
I have hormone imbalance and I refused AD's as I don't want to be addicted.
Hope you can get more useful advice on here.
You have my sympathy .I know it's no fun feeling this way

Yes and no.I wqas given these tablets as my testosterone levels were up adn they kind of balanced it out for short while but ended up with painful periods(agony rolling on floor kind of thing)
I now take St Johns wort every now and then but am not BF or PG.You can't take them while doing/being either
