Fluoxetine and insomnia

Been on fluoxetine 20mg for approx 3 weeks now, after being on venlafaxine for couple of months and had to come off due to side effects. Wasn’t sleeping well at all on venlafaxine but wasn’t really bothered by it either, but since starting fluoxetine sleep has gotten worse, I’m wide awake until half past 3 in morning then wake up every hour, also up early anyway as I have 4 year old. I’m so exhausted all day, don’t nap, don’t drink tea or coffee or any caffeinated drinks yet still unable to sleep at night, I know most ssri’s cause insomnia but was wondering if anyone has experienced it with fluoxetine and if it gets better the longer you are on it?
Atm it’s not working for my depression at all and I will prob need to have the dose increased but I feel like with the lack of sleep the depression isn’t going to improve because they go hand in hand.

When are you taking the Fluoxetine?

I always have to to take it first thing in the morning, or I have the same problem with insomnia as you do.

I’ve not had problems with insomnia after changing when I took it and also the other side effects I had settled right down after a couple of weeks. Coming off venlafaxine can cause insomnia too.

I'm on a really low dose (25mg) Quetiapine for my anxiety and depression. It's the only thing that helps me sleep. I'm also on duloxetine (125) for it too

I take my fluoxetine first thing in the morning, to be honest Iv always had issues with insomnia aswell as depression. But i was on mirtazapine for couple years which was the first thing to ever help with the insomnia but due to it not helping anymore with the depression the psych changed me in Jan. I kind of wish I hadn’t changed now tbh because depression wise I’m no better as of yet just have insomnia on top of it now.
Madcap does the quatipine make you feel sedated all day? Psych mentioned it to me before putting me on venlafaxine but he said because it’s so sedating and I have a child to care for he preferred I tried other medications first.
