Sertraline

Hi everyone. I was just wondering if anyone else experienced the same while first taking Sertraline? I was on citalopram for nearly 11 years but have been swapped to Sertraline as I think the citalopram just stopped working for me. I’m on day 6 and my symptoms have been worse. Panic attacks and increased anxiety. I’m determined to stick it out because I’ve heard it can take up to 6 weeks to fully kick in. Just wondered if anyone else has felt like this?

I felt horrendous when I first started taking it and each time I've re-started it since, if that makes sense. I felt shakey, nauseous and generally appalling. I found each time that the symptoms went on day 7. I hope it's the same for you too Flowers.

It’s awful isn’t it? I hope that happens for me too. I feel the same, shaky, nauseous and very on edge. Thank you for your reply x

How are you feeling today? Any improvement? If the Sertraline works as well for you as it does for me, it'll be worth this horrible time. Hang in there!

Hi, I feel pretty much the same. Just hope it starts to kick in soon. I feel terrible.

Hi. Sorry to hear you're going through a tough time. Well done for sticking it out however. I started on Sertraline in December and caused insomnia and raging hunger (carbs!) but I was feeling awful at the time which is why my GP prescribed them. When meds kicked in (I felt the mild positive effects after just a few days) but I had to up to my current dose from 50mg to 100mg, before I really felt a lot better. It took 8 weeks or so to get the dose right and to feel the effects.
I'm not sure if that helps in any way but be assured it's common to feel rubbish at first. I haven't had any other side effects since my first few weeks (fingers crossed it stays that way).
Take care of yourself and all the best xx

Thankyou very much. It’s encouraging hearing that this will only (hopefully) last a few weeks. Thank you for replying xx
