citalopram

So l have just been to see my GP this morning and have been prescribed Citalopram. I have had counselling etc.
I am looking at the packet and l am a bit scared to take one (20mgs) due to the side effects. Can anyone tell me just what to expect. I already have loss of appetite weight loss and insomnia--so will this make things even worse?

Side effects for me were mainly loss of appetite, zero sex drive and night sweats...and that was on 60mg at my worst so on 20mg it shouldn’t be as pronounced. For me, the benefits hugely outweighed all that eventually, though it did take about 6 weeks to begin to feel better, so persevere!

Reducing my dose and coming off them was a whole different story though and was horrible, so don’t be too quick to think they’re not working and up your dosage.
