After a long and hard think, I'm going to chat to the doctor about this. Been reading about it on and off for a year, and I think I'm at a point where I do need to pursue this. It would so explain why I go off of the rails at a change in routine (illness), why I'm so anxious about my course (no routine whatsoever) and why my mental health has been so shocking for years.

Maybe it won't add anything to my life, but it might help me understand myself a bit better.

Good luck!

Here for a hand-hold if you need...

I was diagnosed last year, and it has been a bit of a weight off, if I'm honest. Nothing has actually changed, but I feel better able to cope with things knowing there's a reason, and I'm not as hard on myself...

Hello, I've just come looking for autism conversations because I watched the channel 4 doc last night - Are You Autistic - and it has finally galvanised me to take action, and in my case I've been thinking about it and avoiding it for years. It's my 63rd birthday in a couple of weeks. Been hovering round this for a very long time, after watching the doc I made an appointment with my GP - it's not until the 19th of April. Hoping I don't bottle out. Have you made an appointment yet, OP? Here's the link for the doc if either of you are interested. www.channel4.com/programmes/are-you-autistic

How did it go blue Cookie Monster? Did you have the appointment yet? Well done for gathering the courage, it is so hard.
