Never told anyone this before but I'm desperate and it's ruining my life....

I've developed a horrendous problem since having children..... there's hair growing on my nipples!

Lots of it....and it's not fine.

I feel like a freak, feel like I can never let a man near me ever.... want to crawl under a rock, fall asleep and wake up with the issue gone.

I'm gutted..... I'm not normal. It's got to be the biggest turn-off for a man.

What can I do? Anyone else out there or am I the only freak on Mumsnet? does electrolysis work? I'd remortgage my house to resolve this.

I don't think using the eye rolling emoticon comes across as hugely sympathetic tbh.
If I were you I'd book in for some sessions of laser hair removal. Actually if you have about £600 to spend you can buy something called Tria which is a hair removal device you can use at home, which is expensive but maybe less mortifying. But honestly, therapists have seen everything. You would need several sessions, each a month apart, but it would zap the hairs for good. Plenty of local beauty salons now offer laser/IPL hair removal, and it does work, eventually.

Thanks Aloha - And everyone else who has been supportive.

Even DDG!! It's good to hear that people don't find it all that unusual or life ruining. Just didn't like being made to feel like a tit (lol) about it.

As always, MN helps me put things into perspective.

It really isn't the end of the world though - and a bit of hair removal is cheaper and probably quicker, not to mention more effective (!) than therapy.

Just pluck the buggers out before each hot date, I reckon!

I swear I could kiss all you girls!

I am FAT (currently!) By several stones. I wasn't always, and I am working on it. So as an overweight single mum with no social life I am letting my hair grow, everywhere but my armpits (only shave them because I am constantly running around and naturally I will "glow" even with Mitchum to an extent, don't want to pong too much! I live in trousers for practical reasons so can't even bother with my legs. I have several hairs around my nipples, but no-one is going to see them in the near future! I have had them since my lat 20's I think. Have plucked them in the past, and if in a hurry, shaved them off. It has never really bothered me.

Embarrassedandmortified you must be very beautiful and perfect everywhere else if something as trivial as a few stray hairs bothers you that much. Just shave, pluck or have electrolysis if it is so important to you.

I have tits like watermelons, always have had even when I was 7 stone. They are closer to my hips than my shoulders. Be thankful you just have a few hairs on your boobs!

Sorry if I seem insensitive, I am just jealous of those who are obviously far more attractive than me! Just be grateful that your problem can be so easily rectified (if only temporarily if shaving/plucking)-I wish I could shave my fat off...

Yes, I agree with you adamadamum. I think that is what I meant last night. I was a bit uptight last night (because I had just been upset by my phobia being featured far too graphically on tv) and have logged on to apologise to embarrassedandmortified for not being sympathetic. But, the bottom line for me is, if this really is upsetting you so much, at least be grateful that you can do something about it - the one word of practical advice I did offer (which seemed to get lost) was that shaving these particular hairs with a bic does seem to remove them far more easily than a bic removes, say, leg hair - other people have problems (neither greater not lesser than yours, just problems, which are far less easily addressed.

But, when all is said and done, I should not have commented at all, given how I feel about nipple hairs, so I apologise and will now go back to my self-imposed MN ban.

Adamadamum, being overweight is only one aspect of appearance. You can still have a beautiful smile, creamy skin, good dress sense. You can still stand tall even if you are carrying a few extra stone. What was that Darcy thought about Elizabeth: "her expression was rendered beautiful by the uncommonly intelligent expression of her dark eyes"? or something like that.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Get it out with Optrex!

E&M if you post on MN asking for people's opinions, don't complain if there are some you don't like. You did ask, and you did post under a 'depression' thread. You were a lot ruder to DDG than she was to you and IMO it is YOU who should be apologising to her.

Embarrassedandmortified - There is a programme on Channel 3 right now about boobs, don't know if it will mention hair, but it's about womens experiences of theirs. I am watching it right now. I hope you are feeling better about your boobs now! Body hair is normal, including on boobs, you have some hairs on yours. Just be grateful you don't have 38G size boobs heading way south - As I said I have hairs on mine but that doesn't really bother me, I can get rid of them in a minute, wish I could do something about their size and position so quickly! I hope you feel better about them and get your "problem" into proportion! Not meant nastily, hope you understand.

Elasticwoman · 10/05/2007 14:53

How do you know e&m isn't 38G, Adamadamum?
Re your own: have you tried Bravissimo? When I first went there I discovered I was actually a size 32 for the first time since I was 13! Several cupsizes bigger though.
