Depressed

I'm going through a bad time with depression at the moment. I'm not coping with going to work or anything. I've only been in my job for four months but think I'm going to have to quit due to my depression. I woke up this morning and just couldn't even face the day. I feel like such a failure but I just can't cope.

Should i quit? I don't know what to do

Not that anyone really cares but decided to take the plunge and quit my job. It really is not helping at all. I was seriously considering bad things today instead of going in. I think I'm making the right decision but time will tell.

Didn't like seeing this unanswered.

I don't know the best way to manage this stuff, but if you haven't quit yet, is there any scope to discuss with your boss, let them know what your dealing with?

Seems wrong that you shouldn't get some support but I am not sure on 'the rules' and I guess it depends on the job. Perhaps someone with knowledge in this area will advise soon.

Sorry to hear you are struggling OP. Do you have anyone you can talk to? Maybe make an appointment with your gp to see if they can offer any help, be it pills, or getting refered to a counsellor.
Please don't feel no one cares as I am sure there are people in your life who do care about you and might not even know how much you are struggling.
Did anything happen that made you start to feel this way this time? I know sometimes nothing happens to make someone feel so low, but I just wondered.

Thank you. I don't think my boss would be very receptive. He is not the sympathetic type. Would probably just say something along the lines of just man up.

All my family know that I'm struggling. I think just because I've had bad times in the past they are sick of it now. Tried seeing counsellors, psychiatrists and tried many different tablets but nothing has helped. It is hard not to just give up but I do want to try and get better.

Do you have real life support OP? If you're not already on medication or discussed with your GP please make an appointment ASAP. You're never alone - I know it feels that way sometimes but even if you don't have real life support the internet is a wonderful place full of people willing to lend a listening ear. Thanks

VelvetKitty · 21/03/2018 21:47

Sorry posted before I saw your last post. Please don't give up. You've obviously just not found the right support/medication/outlet yet but you can and will get better

fiercetree · 21/03/2018 21:49

Thanks @VelvetKitty

I agree, the right support just hasn't been found yet, so don't give up!
Have your family actually said they are fed up with how you are feeling, or are you assuming that is what they are thinking? If its the latter, please do speak to them. There is also the samaritans who you can just speak to and that might help?

:( life can be so hard sometimes OP.

Never quit on a bad day.

Thanks
fiercetree · 22/03/2018 18:35

Thanks @NeverMetACakeIDidntLike I've been repeating that to myself all day. It's starting to make me feel like this is only temporarily bad. You have no idea how much your small comment has helped me.
