What to expect at a crisis team appointment

Yesterday my partner took me to a&e on the advice of 111 as I wanted to kill myself, not just suicidal thoughts but wanted to go through with it. Went to a&e, saw a doctor who then called the crisis team and they came an hour later. The person from the crisis team said after asking a lot of questions, that she thought I just couldn’t control my emotions and something about emotional dysregulation. I can’t really remember much. But, did say they’d phone to check in tomorrow, being today.

So, got a phone call just now asking me to come to the crisis centre at 2pm as they’ve made me an appointment. But I’m not really sure what to expect, what normally happens at an appointment? I’m quite anxious.

you will be assigned a worker. They should discuss risk with you and should decide how often they will visit you either at home or at a MH centre.
My son went through this in 2016 and I attended quite a few meetings with him. He was an adult but I can be quite pushy and ask questions to make sure he was getting the right care.
Do you have anyone that can go with you if you need some support for the first meeting?

Thanks for replying, my partner would be willing to come with me I think, I think if someone could come with me I’d definitely feel a little less scared

It's a really good idea to have someone with you that can support you.
Ask questions etc.
What can they do to help? Planning
How long will they see you for? (usually about 2 weeks)
What if you need to speak to them outside of the appointments? Contact numbers etc.
Can your partner call on your behalf if he is concerned? Make sure they know you give consent for him to be told information.
will they refer you to the Psychiatrist?
How long will that take?

Maybe write these questions down if you feel it would help.
When you go there with a bit of understanding about the appointment it makes it a little easier.

hope it goes ok x
