So on day two my 75 year old Dad is very very confused.

Diagnosed vascular dementia in September. Been very aggravated, aggressive, hallucinations etc the past few months. The last two weeks been bad.

GP prescribed amitriptyline two days ago. He seems really really confused today. Not sure of the day, what he should be doing etc. He's not eaten nor drunk despite knowing he's really thirsty.

Does it get in to your system that quick? I thought the GP said it would take a week or so to get into his system?

i find its a sedating brain numbing drug - i had to change to its sister drug .(so that might be causing his confusion)
i had side effects straight away - i didnt take it long enough to gauge therapeutic effect
