Please can anyone share positive experiences with escitalopram? How bad things were and how better they got.

Things are pretty dark at the moment and some positive stories would really help.

Hi! I’m on it and came on here asking the same thing when I started. Switched from Citalopram when it stopped working after 18 months.
I found that it had less start up side effects. For me it took 8 weeks to get positive effects so hang in there. Things felt worse before they got better so prepare for that, they do get better though!
I haven’t gained any weight so far. I’m not on top of the world as such but I’m waaay more rational and motivated. Lots of positive thoughts about the future which has been nice after being in the dark for so long. A few people responded to me when I came on here they hopefully will be along soon.
Is this your first SSRI?

Thanks so much for replying @CantGetNoSleep it definitely helps to hear a positive experience. I tried citalopram and sertraline about 12 years ago but didn't really get on well with either. Without prying too much, can I ask how bad things had got before you were on them? It is so hard to see clearly when everything seems hopeless - but I know that is largely anxiety talking

And reassuring to just see it listed as one of the more effective options!:
