What do I say to my doctor?

I've been feeling really down and anxious lately. It's starting to take over my life and I realise I need to go to the doctors to speak to someone.

Do I just book a normal appointment and wait the 2 weeks?

What do I say to my doctor? How do I word it? The thought of going there is making me feel so nervous!

Thanks

Hi OP, I would ring up and explain to the receptionist that you feel very down and would like an appointment as soon as possible. Hopefully they'll be able to fit you in quickly. As for what to say to the doctor, I would start with what you have written here. So that you're feeling down and anxious and it's taking over your life, that'll be enough.

Well done for making the decision to get some help. It's not easy but it's the first step towards feeling better Flowers

Just go into your appointment and say you have bad anxiety. They will take it from there and ask you questions after that. Don’t worry if you get very emotional too - they will see patients on a daily basis with anxiety/depression and will be used to seeing tears. Don’t be embarrassed as anxiety is a lot more common than you think and you are being a lot stronger than most admitting that you need a bit of help

Thank you, hopefully they will be helpful and get me in straight away! I don't know why I'm nervous to go, maybe its becuase I'm finally facing it.

Thank you x
