Hello ,

I have a 1yr old who stopped going to school for over a week. We were supposed to have a meeting today but he refuses to go because his dad will be there. I am divorced had been raising him alone since he was 2. Can a school force a child to see a parent ? I am desperately trying to get him into school but the school insists his father to be there.

I don't see how they can force him to see his dad if he doesn't want to. Why do the school think dad needs to be there? It doesn't sound as though he has much input into your son's life. Or has there been a recent argument between them, in which case I can understand why they think it might be a good idea (although I disagree)?

Can he go to school but not to the meeting? Or can you leave him at home and go yourself?
