Paranoid delusions

Hi. I’m posting because it’s nearly a year to the day that I’ve been having the same “paranoid delusions”. Any stories of hope that it can get better after this period of time and 4 different anti-psychotics down the line or is this where I should begin to question, am I actually Ill?

Hello
Couldn't read and run. I have psychosis and paranoid thoughts. It took a lot of trying different antipsychotics before getting any relief. I'm on clozapine.
CBT also helped. I couldn't access therapy but used a book called Overcoming paranoid thoughts.
Good luck xx

Thank you for your response. I am currently on Amisulpride but have been told clozapine is the next thing they’ll try me on if no improvement. I’ll also take a look at the book you recommend. Glad you have found some relief x

Clozapine has changed my life. Since starting on it I have had one psychotic episode which was controlled by increasing the dose.

tehmina23 · 04/01/2018 10:18

I take 25mg Aripiprazole- basically I still get paranoid at times mainly at work but it soon wears off. I've had other psychotic symptoms that aren't bothering me too much now I'm on 25mg.
I feel quite relaxed in fact most of the time now.

Thanks for your response. I have tried aripiprazole but had no effect on me. I’ve also tried risperidone, lurasidone and am currently on amisulpride. I’ve also had cbt. Maybe because mine are non -bizarre delusions it’s harder to recover.

I know the feeling. I tried aripiprazole, risperidone, olanzapine, quetiapine and loxapine. Some worked okay but the side effects were awful. I had a long stay last year when psychotic and they put me on clozapine which really helps.

tehmina23 · 04/01/2018 17:20

In 2012 I was very ill and tried risperidone but the side effects were awful plus it didn't work & it affected my epilepsy.

So that's when i was put on Aripiprazole which took several months to work but it did stop the delusions.

However I've had some symptoms recently which is why the dose was increased - I was seeing objects as having personalities for example. Now I still see that occasionally but it doesn't bother me.

Btw I haven't had a diagnosis of anything except depressive disorder, history of psychosis & BPD.
I totally disagree with the BPD diagnosis and will discuss it with my psychiatrist tomorrow.
I just don't feel I have those issues.

Bhj · 04/01/2018 17:59

I have been fortunate enough not to be sectioned (yet, rang non emergency police first time last week) I found the risperidone did help but left me completely numb, I couldn’t even interact with my kids. The only diagnosis I’ve been given is psychosis. Good luck with your psychiatrist tomorrow.

hello I'm glad I have found this thread

my darling hubby has been very poorly with C-PTSD & depression with psychosis

When we first met he was ok but more recently last year has been very hard on him, he's had some physically injuries too which haven't help as means he cant be as active as he would like.

He's now after a couple of changes on Amisulpride it worked really quickly at first but now isn't and so the dose has increased now to 900mg a day and we are waiting to see if this makes a difference. Every time I have to push the drs to try something new because he is in such distress.
Maybe I will mention Clozapine as an option.

We are seeing psychology soon so hopefully getting some more help. Just desperate for him to get his life back on track. Its exhausting for him and me.

Anyone else find they really have to push to get any help for their MH?
