Scared to make the appointment

Just that really. Have had a really bad weekend and I know I need help but I just can't pick up the phone.
My gp is notorious for not being able to get an appointment and I know they won't give me one till after the new year and I don't think I can wait till then. I've suffered in silence for so long I wouldn't even know where to start.
I'm nervous about the receptionist asking me for my reason for the appointment as two of them are mums of my ds school friends.
Just don't know what to do :(

Write a letter (with stamp) and mail it to your GP, mentioning pretty much what you wrote here? Maybe it's still time to post it tonight, otherwise tomorrow.

Write his/her name first, and that it's personal, so it won't be opened by the receptionists.

take a deep breath, phone and say you need an urgent same day appointment for mental health issues

Even better! Now you have two options! Flowers

Do your receptionists triage? At my surgery, if you want an urgent same day appointment, you are put through to the duty doctor who assesses over the phone and books you in, refers you to nurse, gives advice/ reassurance etc - i.e. Receptionists not involved in triage

'Urgent mental health issues' should get you fairly high up the list of appointments
