Cipralex/Escitalopram

Hi

Is anyone familiar with this drug? Any side effects, good/bad results.

I was prescribed Citalopram (several years ago now) for depression and it worked brilliantly - no side effects either. And no recurrance of depression.
Not sure if it is the same as Escitalopram though.

sounds like it might be the same thing. d'you remember what dose it was?

I know it was started really low, but needed to be increased a few times before it started working properly for me.

Yep, its the same. I'm on it, just 10mg after 6months on 20mg. First week on 20mg was nasty - shaking hands/jittery/disrupted sleep but stuck with it and it has been a real help, haven't had any of the 'numbing' of emotions i had read about and so still felt like me but less crying! Coming down from 20mg to 10mg didn't have any physical side effects but was v weepy for a week and stressed out due to work/AF i think but not helped by lower dose. Hope that helps

It's pretty much the same as Cipramil in terms of effectiveness but it is supposed to work faster.

It has less SE and withdrawal symptoms than other SSRIs.

hmm sorry, just looked at the thread title and realised it says citaloprix not citalopram - I'm on citalopram which is the same as escilatopram but don't know about citaloprix.

i'm a bit confused now. it says cipralex on the manufactured box but escitalopram on the printed label from the pharmacy.

it's a 5mg dose.

i'm just really not sure about it.....

Escitalopram is different from Citalopram.
Escitalopram = Cipralex
Citalopram = Cipramil.

IIRC Cipralex is meant to be a more refined version of Cipramil (it's newer).
