Duloxetine

Hi, I'm on my second day of taking Duloxetine. I was on Venlafaxine before and found my appetite uncontrollable. I ended up gaining two stone in about three months. I was put on Duloxetine as apparently it can reduce appetite. I was just wondering how other people found it in terms of appetite and their depression? Thank you.

Hi. I've just done a quick Google search and it's claimed they don't cause weight gain. In fact you could lose a couple of pounds. Hope you have a swift recovery.

I was Duloxetine a few years ago, and it had absolutely no effect on my weight/appetite. It helped a bit with depression, and a lot with anxiety. It also made me really sleepy for the first week or two.

I hope they work for you :)

I was on duloxetine briefly a few years ago, it didn't help my MH issues but i recall I lost a bit of weight on it.

Hi, thank you all for your replies. I've noticed a small change in appetite, as I don't have the overwhelming urge to eat like I had with Venlafaxine. I hope that it helps with my depression, as I'm a struggling single mum of a two and a half yr old and have had depression for about 20 years. I will give it time.

Good luck with it.

Have you ever had your vitamin levels checked (you'll get D and B12 on NHS). My psych had me test those before even thinking about more medication. Turned out I'm D deficient, so he wants me to correct that to see if it improves depression symptoms. As you've been suffering depression so long, might be worth asking your GP to check. Pls feel free to PM me if you want some more info, our situations sound quite similar.

I found i was very ill with side effects starting duloxetine, I've been on it a couple of years now and I do find it helps in some ways.
I have lost a lot of weight on it, which isn't actually a good thing. I have no appetite at all and I have to be reminded by dh even to eat a little something. Don't know if that's specifically due to the duloxetine or my mood.

GP put me on duloxetine today for fibromyalgia pain and depression. He has started me on 30mg but wants me up to at least 60 by Christmas. Haven't taken first dose yet as a bit uncertain about having it in the evening and then possibly not being able to sleep. I've promised myself I'll give it a couple of months to see if I really feel any improvement, but am a bit apprehensive tbh. How are others finding it, side effects and that?
