I jump from one doomsday scenario to another. I am always worried about something. When I'm at work and busy I am not anxious at all but when I have down time I worry about various often silly things, e.g. What if the kids are ill and I can't get to work? What will we do about my sons half day in Jan? Things like cancer scares and problems withe the car. There's always something

Anyway if I go to the gp how quick would I be to get prescribed something? Or would I get referred? Any similar experience?

(Also fam history of anxiety, close members medicated)

You may get a prescripton strait away, I always have when I've been for depression/anxiety and felt I needed one, other times when I've been stressed but not depressed I've been signed off sick for a couple of weeks I've also been given information about self refal to IAPT for talking therapies. It will depend on what your GP feels is appropriate and also what you are asking for.
