What will happen

1st appointment to see a councillor is next month after being on the waiting list for months. I am now having major anxiety about seeing this person.

What should I expect to happen.

First off - good for you for seeing a counsellor. Are they a counsellor or a psychotherapist?

What will normally happen is that they will ask you what is going on with you and why you wanted to see someone and then they will get you to tell them about that and take a brief history. Usually takes a couple sessions before you get into it.

This is the important thing to remember though - if you don't click with this person you can ask for someone else. If you don't like or trust them you won't get the work done that you need to do!
