don't want to go into too much detail, but hv has stongly advised ADs for pnd - second lo. i know things are bad but feel reluctant to take drugs. I KNOW they can make me feel better but feel like i'm giving in. it feels so real, big and very scarey. dunno what to do? any help???

its not giving in. lots included me have been where you are, it helped me and it has helped many others.

Take the drugs - if you had some ailment which you could see like a sore on your arm you would take them without thinking - pnd is a physical ailment in the same way and can be treated in most cases with drugs.

I have been where you are now and to me it felt like an admission of failure to take the ADs - on the other side of it now I can see that my fear to do so was part of the depression.

You have nothing to lose by trying them out.

Take the pills..there is no shame in taking them. You'll feel much better ! I'll also advise you to see a consellor. Don't worry you are not going to take these tablets for life ! Give yourself the chance to get better !! Good luck to you ! I had PND and thanks to these pills I got better, I'm expecting my second baby in 1 month and I feel something is wrong again I'll go to my GP and exige these pills and wont wait 1 year as I have done for my first dd. For your sake, for your children sake...get the help you need.

thats just part of it, please speak to GP and take advice.

Wotzsaname · 10/04/2007 20:42

don't get too upset, things will get better if you take the ADs.

nickytwotimes · 10/04/2007 20:46

i agree with the others. it's no shame to take ads. i've taken them for years and found they help. they give you a bit of a boost so you can then help yourself.
if the one's you've been prescribed don't suit, try others - it's a bit of a hit-and miss affair finding the best fo r you.

OopsImoaningagain · 10/04/2007 20:48

Go to your GP and tell him how you feel, it may sound hard but it's your first step towards recovery. You are not a failure, PND is a illness, anyone from any background can have it, you are not a failure, you simply need help in this difficult phase.

mrsmcv · 10/04/2007 20:56

Know how you feel about ADs, I think everyone feels like that, myself included.

Having PND doesn't make you a loser, it just means you've got PND. Taking anti-depressants makes you a clever sensible person and you should be proud of yourself for seeking support from anyone who can help.

A mountain to climb, like everything if you're depressed but it will end, I promise.
