Antidepressants for social anxiety

Wondering if anyone has taken AD's for social anxiety? I am currently seeing a CBT therapist which is going very well, and the doctor prescribed me propranolololololololol, which seemed to do nothing at all for me whatever (apart from insomnia!) My general anxiety seems to be getting worse at the moment...I wake up in the mornings with tingling and numbness all over, and usually have a cry. The tingling is particularly disturbing and uncomfortable. I remember the doctor saying if the proplolololololol isn't right, AD's could be the next step, but for some reason it feels like quite a big decision. Has anyone had success on AD's for social anxiety?

I've found Mirtazapine (an AD) took the edge off my anxiety (not social anxiety, related to PTSD ) I discussed it with my CPN he explained that anxiety and depression are both caused by very similar chemical imbalances, so ADs often work well for anxiety too.

Thanks very much NoLonger - I didn't actually realise that, so that's very helpful
