Citalopram and a baby

Hello

I've just started 20mg citalopram. Took my first one 6 hours ago and sure it's placebo but feeling more calm already (taking it for anxiety)

However I have just read somewhere that side effects for first couple weeks can include struggling to wake up and dizziness, I have a 4 month old baby.. Could this be a dangerous mix? GP knew I had a baby as was discussed so guessing I should he OK just don't like the thought of not waking if she cries, or feeling dizzy if I'm carrying her

I'm on citalopram and have been been for a while! I didn't get any of these side effects so I haven't had this worry but if you do speak to your gp Smile
I also felt them work soon after taking them!

Oh that's good to hear :) thanks! Will see how I feel in morning. Do you feel they've helped you in your situation?

Yes do Smile hopefully you don't experience the side effects either!
They have definitely helped with my situation. Mine are for anxiety too and depression.
I was on them a few years ago for about a year and a half and then came off them. I felt fine but about a year later my anxiety started getting bad so I am unfortunately back on them but they help so much! And I didn't experience the side effects when I started on them again! Im looking to get counselling too now though because I hate the thought of being on medication long term!
I hope they work week for you!

Hi

I started Citalopram when my baby was about 4 months too (sleep regression tipped me over the edge!) and I had loads of side effects but was fine to look after my baby - I think my DH may have taken one or two days off to help out when I needed it. You found I was better taking them at night than in the morning. Hope you find them helpful - for me it definitely gave me some much needed headspace.
