So my DD (17) has been struggling with anxiety and low mood (involving SH) for about a year now. She has told her friend this and last night her friend started sending her Snapchats of cut legs saying she wants to die etc and her legs were bleeding loads. This all started at about 12am in the morning and DD was up all night worrying incase her friend was going to do something stupid. She can't get the images out of her head. Where do I go from here??

Report the friend's SH to school / college immediately. They have a responsibility for safeguarding. If the friend is not in education, find a way to track down her parents and tell them.

Strongly urge your DD to either block her friend for now or to turn her phone off at night. My own DD has self harmed and taken OD - and I honestly think social media was a big factor. Childhoods were easier before social media.
