Middle of the night panic attacks

I know what's causing them (mostly). I know all of the techniques to try and stop one when it's happening. But I don't seem to be able to stop them happening. Very very rare to ever have one during the day, they always seem to happen middle of the night. I don't know how to make them stop Sad

Sorry you are suffering with panic attacks littlemiss.
I have understood sometimes dreams can lead to panic attacks in the night from trauma. Or there can be other reasons. I know they are distressing, and unpredictable. Can you take something to bed with you to ground you if you experience one, such as a grounding object like a cold stone, a cold drink, a headspace meditation.
I understand it's so frustrating when you know all the techniques, but they don't take it away, that happens with me too sometimes and it's exhausting. With me, my brain remains in ' panic mode' and it's going to take time to settle, though the techniques help in the meantime.
If you wake in the night, feel free to post on the anxiety thread or here and if I see it I'll respond.
I hope you sleep well tonight, take care :)
